Lynn C. Fritz Medal 2025: Application phase for outstanding humanitarian logistics projects has begun
Logistics Hall of Fame accepts applications online until May 5. Award honors successful supply chain management projects by humanitarian organizations.
Ismaning near Munich/San Francisco, February 13, 2025 – The application portal for the Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics is open again. From now on, humanitarian organizations and organizations in the development aid sector have the opportunity to apply for the prestigious award on the Logistics Hall of Fame website with successfully implemented logistics projects.
The Logistics Hall of Fame and the San Francisco-based Fritz Institute, sponsor of the award, aim to highlight the importance of outstanding logistics-related achievements in humanitarian aid and to promote innovative approaches to optimizing disaster relief.
“Many humanitarian organizations operate under the most difficult conditions. What often goes unnoticed is that their work would not be possible without efficient logistics projects. The Lynn C. Fritz Medal not only puts the spotlight on humanitarian logistics and its stakeholders, but also highlights how essential professional supply chain management is in this field. Given that logistics costs account for up to 80 percent of the total expenditure of aid missions, the central importance of this topic becomes particularly clear,” explains jury chairman Thilo Joergl. The medal is also intended to draw the attention of potential donors and key players in the humanitarian sector to the outstanding achievements of the winners.
At the annual gala reception in Berlin on December 4, 2025, outstanding humanitarian organizations and their partners will be honored for the third time for their successful logistics projects. The second presentation of the medal took place in 2024 and was awarded to the organization “Strategies for Northern Development” from Kenya for its project "Horn of Africa Extreme Weather Response." This strategy provides people in need with fast, secure, and sustainable access to essential goods using electronic vouchers and multi-purpose cash assistance via mobile phone.
For interested applicants, the following applies: The submitted logistics projects must be completed and demonstrably effective in practice. Pure concepts or theoretical ideas will not be considered. Applications should explain why a project is innovative, sustainable, or particularly efficient and how it serves as a model for humanitarian logistics. Cooperation projects involving multiple partners are also eligible. The results must not be older than three years. The application procedure is described online and can typically be completed in less than four hours.
In the first round of voting, an Expert Council preselects the most promising projects, which are then presented to the international jury for a final decision. Nominations are accepted regardless of an organization’s origin, prominence, or size. The key criterion is that the project has demonstrably improved humanitarian operations and serves as a role model for the sector. Applications can be submitted free of charge in English and German online at www.logisticshalloffame.net until May 5, 2025. The winner will be honored in Berlin at the end of the year.
