ConnectChains conference 2024: Focus on public-private partnerships, sustainability and localization
Public-private partnerships, sustainability and localization - these are the top themes of the second edition of ConnectChains - The Humanitarian Supply Chain Conference on December 5, 2024 in Berlin. The one-day event will take place on the premises of the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the Federal Government. In addition to the State Representation, other conference partners include the Fritz Institute in San Francisco and the Port of Duisburg (duisport).
The aim of the event is to facilitate knowledge transfer between humanitarian organizations, commercial enterprises and other stakeholders in the ever evolving field of humanitarian supply chain management and to improve networking between all stakeholders. The summit also aims to ensure that humanitarian organizations and logistics companies are better prepared to deal with crisis situations.
During the conference, the results of a study conducted by ETH Zurich and Wageningen University & Research in 2024 on the topic of public-private partnerships will be presented for the first time and discussed with the head of the study, Prof. Dr. Sander de Leeuw.
“Topics such as public-private partnerships or sustainability are not only at the top of the agenda in business, but also in humanitarian organizations. That's why networking and exchange make a lot of sense, the leverage is enormous. With the ConnectChains conference, we are helping governments, businesses and humanitarian organizations to leverage potential together,” emphasizes Thilo Jörgl, director of the conference and Chairperson of the Jury of the Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics.
The summit is aimed at logistics and supply chain experts in humanitarian and development aid organizations as well as logistics companies. International donors and representatives from foundations and academia are also invited.
Summit participants will benefit from a keynote speech on localization by Dr Abbas Gullet, former Secretary General of the Kenyan Red Cross from Nairobi, discussion panels and a presentation by the winning team of the Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics. Two experts from the winning organization will present their innovative project. Last year's winner of the medal was International Medical Corps from Los Angeles. The award was presented for the first time in 2023 by the Logistics Hall of Fame, it is sponsored by Fritz Institute.
